I went to a friend’s beautiful baby blessing today, and brought along these scones to share. My other friend who was hosting, made some really delicious dishes. One of which was a fruit salad with sliced pears, star anise, and figs with a lovely spiced dressing. There were also some gorgeous quiches, a bowl of crisp sliced apples with a fresh squeeze of lemon juice, and a bowl full of pomegranate seeds that looked like little jewels the way they caught the light. The table was simple, and tastefully festive. My friend has a talent for bringing nature indoors, and with candles lit, she created a lovely, calm, warm, and inviting setting for a blessing.
I love a lot of things in life, and I know you do not have all the time in the world, so I will just name some of them. I love cuddling on the couch and reading stories to my lovely little ladies. I love giving one of my girls(the prince) a horsey ride across the living room to my other girl(the princess) who is asleep on the couch, so they can kiss her and wake her up. I love to neigh and buck a lot so I seem more like a real horse, and they love it. I love it when I get to be the prince. I love to rake leaves with Marjie. I love to draw pictures with my girls. I love watching Marjie write her e’s upside down. I love that my girls both are sounding out words. I love being the tickle monster. I love watching my girls eat, drink, sleep, laugh, dance, and hug each other. I love listening to my girls sing, role play, laugh, breathe, and be kind to each other. I love them. I love Dominic for so many reasons, the two most important being our girls. I love the rain, the sound of it, smell of it, and the way it feels. I love scones…
I love these scones. They are light, fluffy, buttery, studded with jammy cranberries, and just delicious. I baked two batches of these babies in the last two days, and all I am saying is someone needs to cut off my fresh cranberry, flour, and butter supply, because I am thinking about baking another batch tomorrow.
This recipe is adapted from The Kitchn, Fresh Cranberry Scones. These scones would be perfect for a holiday breakfast, or brunch. They are delicious sliced in half, and filled with my spiced cranberry sauce. Please bake and enjoy these scones with your family and friends.
